The world’s most prestigious and challenging freestyle motocross competition, the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour, will now be going to four corners of the planet with the inclusion of stops in Pretoria (Union Buildings), South Africa and Osaka, Japan in 2013.
The City of Tshwane will be the last stop on the six-stop tour and will bring something to the Union Buildings that not many South Africans are likely to have seen in their lifetime – the world’s best freestyle motocross riders performing gravity-defying, breathtaking tricks in the air.
South African freestyle motocross champion Nick de Wit is ecstatic that he’ll go up against the world’s best on home soil on August 31. “The closest it’s gotten to home is Egypt in 2010. We’ve wanted it here for a long time and it’s finally happening. I can’t wait to have the home crowd cheering me on!” After his successful campaign in 2012, the youngest champion in the 12-year history of Red Bull X-Fighters, New Zealand’s Levi Sherwood will be looking to defend his Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour Championship title.
Red Bull X-Fighters 2013 Tour Schedule – March 8, Mexico City (Mexico); April 12, Dubai (UAE); May 11, Glen Helen (USA); June 1, Osaka (JPN); July 19, Madrid (Spain); August 31, Pretoria (RSA).
