To some the Porsche is the poor man’s sports car but Porsche have a few weapons that turn that theory on its head; the 2011 GT2 RS is just one of those weapons and it’s just about the best road-going car Porsche have ever released.
Now, Porsche really weren’t messing around when they made this car. If it’s not the 620 HP or 700 Nm of torque, then it may well be the fact that there are only 500 of them, or that it will reach 330 km/ hour and take just 3.5 seconds to get from 0 – 100 km/ hour.
Being the most powerful Porsche, and having that kind of acceleration and speed, quite a mean braking system is needed. The GT2 RS is equipped with PCCB composite ceramic disks with huge callipers clamping on them.
The interior is full of “race-like” features with lightweight trim, bucket seats and red elements contrasting the black. As we move to the exterior you will not be blown away by something different but rather calmed by the elegance and style that is synonymous with Porsche, and that which we all have become accustomed.
The GT2 RS will carry a price tag of around R2 million, although that is just an estimate as it will only arrive in South Africa sometime next year.
