When presented with a design challenge, Lexus’ Calty design studio in Newport Beach, California stepped up and created the hybrid 2+2 Sport Coupe – a combination of advanced automotive technology and groundbreaking style.
The 2+2 sport coupe takes a bold stance on the signature Lexus spindle grille and rear architecture. Framed by a deep aluminium surround, the mesh pattern of the spindle grille takes 3D sculpture form, combining style and engineering functionality.
Daytime running lights are shaped like an “L” while the vertical fog lamps make use of a fading dot matrix pattern. The concept car’s glass roof features a lightweight, cantilevered pillar with a glass-to-glass juncture inspired by modern architecture.
The interior of the concept car blends advanced technology with soft textures leaving the driver surrounded by deeply scooped side panels and a high, curved console. To ensure a smooth, safe ride, the 2+2 sport coupe has a remote twin 12.3-inch touch-screen system that allows the driver to comfortably operate the controls without having to move or compromise driving safety.
As if the comfort and high-tech interior is not enough, the front-engine, rear-wheel drive LF-LC features Advanced Lexus Hybrid Drive, improving driving performance and fuel efficiency. The hybrid is expected to be available to the public later this year. Check out the Lexus South Africa Facebook Page for updates and information.
