EFC Africa 21 played host to some fine MMA action with some thrilling knockouts, stoppages and submissions.
A war of words between Abdul Hassan and Demarte Pena was put to rest as Hassan attempted to dethrone the reigning featherweight champion. The bout between Pena and Hassan was massively hyped and hugely anticipated. A matchup preceded by unparalleled smacktalk ended with Pena exhibiting why he is such a dominant champion. The champion came out aggressively throwing stinging leg kicks and Hassan returned fire with some of his own leg kicks.
A lot of the bout was spent with them working from the clinch. Pena landed a spectacular takedown on Hassan with the challenger scrambling to his feet. When Pena later had Hassan on his back, he dished out strikes from top position. Hassan tore some ligaments in his ankle during the bout and did not answer the bell for the second round. Another highlight of the night was the three round war between Wilhelm Strauss and Lance Ceronio. It was an absolute slugfest that left both men battered and bloodied with Strauss scraping a split decision victor
