You can tell a lot about a person by visiting their den. A displayed collection of medieval blades could denote that a person is an aficionado of relics or he may have some underlying Charles Manson tendencies. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what the following pieces of outrageous furniture will say about you but one thing is for sure, your guests will certainly perceive you as a unique specimen.
Carsofa and Cartable
No we didn’t put this together from the remains of a Louis Motors garage sale, this crazy car inspired sofa and table is an actual product. The genius or insanity (depending how you look at it) stems from an auto shop in Czech Republic. The furniture has been crafted from vintage cars and impressively, you can even get them to transform your old car into furniture. It is definitely outrageous, but in a cool sort of way. Your cup of coffee perched on the glass surface, “hovering” over the engine is a juxtaposition of zany and creative flair…
Explosion Cabinet
Talk about high impact furniture! The Explosion Cabinet is a drawer unit that can be utilised as normal or it can be displayed as an exploding unit. The cabinet breaks into several pieces that are mounted to give off the illusion that it is exploding. Apart from being a very cool piece of furniture it is also hand made from stained maple. Take a look at it and the first thought that runs through your head is probably, “KABOOM!”
The Hamburger Bed
Here’s one for all of you fast food fiends. Just as the name suggests, the Hamburger Bed is a bed shaped in the form of a hamburger. American Kayla Kromer decided to take her obsession with hamburgers to the next level by creating the bed. The user will sleep under a massive bun that is loaded with filling. This is the sort of bed we would find in Jughead’s room.
The Alien Table
While we suspect that kids may be a little apprehensive around this table, it cannot be disputed that this table is simply badass. The table’s base consists of an alien character from the Alien movie saga. The alien has been made out of recycled car and bike parts as well as other miscellaneous metal parts. It looks like he’s locked and loaded for some bone crunching carnage.
Cloud Chair by Richard Hutton
This unusual chair has been shaped to take the form of a cloud. The Cloud Chair from Designer Richard Hutton was created by being fashioned out of nickel plated cast-aluminium ball which prompts the cloudesque appearance. It is definitely a refreshing alternative to the conventional upholstered fare. The Cloud Chair is as stylish as they come and looks like it has been teleported from the future.
Nintendo Coffee Table
How’s this for a blast from the past? This supersized Nintendo remote control replica is actually a coffee table. This retro piece of furniture is a realistic depiction of the classic eight bit peripheral. It will definitely be a great conversation piece but sadly you will not be able to hit the pause button when there are annoying guests.
Tiger Couch
Roman master upholsterer Rodolfo Rochetti has a flair for designing couches that resembles animals – truly a creative mind. This tiger couch is eerily realistic. Even though it has somewhat of a foreboding presence it still looks very cool and downright outrageous – perfect for sorting out bratty nephews. Animal lovers need not get their knickers in a twist since the couch has been made from faux fur.
