Since bars are a common setting for legendary times and good natured debauchery, we have decided to review the world’s greatest bars in a three part series, this is just part one (see part 2 here, and part 3 here)…
Allure Nightclub, Abu Dhabi Marina
Dubai’s robust nightlife isn’t exactly clandestine. Allure by global hospitality brand, Cipriani has become a popular spot with their local trendoids and international revellers. Sip on your poison and snack on some gourmet bites, while chilled music loosens you up at an amazing setting. You can even see the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix circuit from the terrace.
Connaught, London
This luxurious 5 star hotel has an equally luxurious bar. The Connaught is situated in the upmarket Mayfair area in London. The design was inspired by English Cubist and Irish 1920s art, designer David Collins has produced a gem of a London bar. The drinks are amazing and the complimentary nibbles are outstanding.
Dry Martini Bar, Barcelona
This Barcelona bar oozes charm and style. The walls are decked with pictures of the fine drink, conjuring a rather sophisticated ambiance. It always has a good vibe and service is top notch. Whether it’s shaken or stirred, Dry Martini Bar is the perfect place to kick back and forget your woes.
Harry’s New York Bar, Paris
The bar was originally from Manhattan, but it was dismantled and shipped to Paris. Harry’s New York Bar celebrated its hundredth birthday this year and has been visited by high profile folk like Ernest Hemingway, Bill Tilden, Coco Chanel, Jack Dempsey, Rita Hayworth, Humphrey Bogart and many others. It is one of the world’s most famous bars with good reason. It is also the birth place of the Bloody Mary. Visiting it is an education.
Skyview Bar, Dubai
So we back to Dubai. Its Skyview Bar is certainly worth a visit to indulge in a bit of aerial partying. It is suspended 200m from sky-level so anticipate some amazing views. It has a welcoming ambiance and the setting is somewhat private as the lounge accommodates 70 people and the bar seats 12 people.
