It is one of South Africa’s most-loved social events of the year, the annual J&B Met in Kenilworth, Cape Town will be rolling around again on Saturday 28 January. The stage is set, the ponies are prepped – it’s a day at the races unique to Cape Town.
This year, organisers are expecting a record attendance when the gates open at Kenilworth Racecourse in Cape Town on Saturday morning for one of South Africa’s biggest summer racing and entertainment occasions, and Africa’s hottest horseracing event; the R2-million, Grade 1 J&B Met.
At least 50 000 people are expected to attend this year’s event, and they will all be entertained, wined and dined in and around the racecourse. The 5 000 capacity marquee village and 184 picnic sites will cater to visitors who enjoy a day out at the races laced with fashion, flavour and the thrill of the race.
