Arriving at Durban Harbour the great vibe had already started with a Miller Hummer parked outside playing good music and already getting some soon-to-board passengers jamming in anticipation. Straight away the day then got off to another incredible start with a warm welcome from eight gorgeous babes. No better way to get your mood just right than a sexy group of girls full of smiles and welcoming you to the party weekend of the year.
After boarding, checking into your cabins and making your way to the top deck to check out the South African shoreline disappear and taking in the fresh ocean air most passengers found their way to the many well stocked bars to start ordering cocktails and beers. The Miller Pool Deck got the party vibe started where DJs Cli and Gorgeous the Beatboxer, 5FM’s Grant and Anele (with their live broadcast), 5FM’s DJ Fresh, 5FM’s DJ Euphonik, 5FM’s DJ Milkshake, Black Coffee, Shaun Duvet and Lady Lea were all bringing out the best music in the awesome African sun. This part of the ship already set the standard with most of the passengers filling up the top deck to capacity and all of them dancing with a hugely excitable atmosphere being brewed.
On the other end of the ship the Miller Cafe Del Mare offered more great tunes with DJs Wags, Household Funk, Kenzhero, 5FM’s Poppy, and Ricky H, that kept the crowds happy and partying on the first incredible day. The music was incredible and it was great to have an alternative to the main pool deck to party at if you wanted something different.
Throughout the first day there were special comedy screenings in the auditorium and a selection of movies, all by NuMetro. If you felt like a bit of gaming NuMetro also put together a gaming section at the Planet Club, all day, every day, and the free internet from OTA made sure you could make your mates, that didn’t make it to the cruise, even more jealous by updating your Facebook or Twitter accounts regularly.
Heading into the first night, and if comedy was your thing, comedians Trevor Noah, Loyiso Gola, Eugene Khoza, Darren Maule, David Kibuuka and Kagiso Lediga brought the house down from 8pm until 10pm; a perfect way to get into a great mood for what was to come later in the night. After most of the passengers got ready, and had a good dinner, there were the options to go to the Manhattan Bar for the MRTB party, the 5FM party at Pasha, which was one of the best parties of the night, and then there was the Patron Party in the Sinfonia Lounge that also proved to be the a good party spot and where music was provided by Ricky H, Household Funk, Lady Lea with JR, Flash Republic, Shaun Duvet with HHP and Dean Fuel with Gorgeous the Beat Boxer; a perfect first day and night and a great benchmark for the reach of the cruise.
After a great first day most of the passengers made their way to the top deck again on the Saturday morning to enjoy the warm African sun as it warmed up the atmosphere for another awesome day of great entertainment and chilled-to-perfection cocktails.
Starting from 9am at the Miller Pool Deck, music and entertainment were in abundance with Household Funk, 5FM’s Grant and Anele, Ricky H, 5FM’s DJ Milkshake, 5FM’s DJ Fresh, Black Coffee, Kenzhero and Lady Lea, all playing the best music to compliment the perfect party vibe. The bars were packed and everyone kept dancing, swimming, chilling and just enjoying another great day on Miller Rock the Boat.
At the Miller Cafe Del Mare Djs Wags, Lady Lea, Dimplez, Dean Fuel, 5FM’s DJ Euphonik, Shaun Duvet and DJ Cli kept up the tempo whilst afternoon live music jam sessions were performed by Snazzy Nathan and the Homeless, Mad Love, GB Collective and Car Crash Burn, who all put on great shows.
There was also the option to do the shore excursion to the Portuguese Islands where a fare amount of passengers decided to take up this option to try out some snorkelling, swimming in the warm ocean and tanning, until they made their way back to the ship to continue partying.
Into the second night the party seemed like it was just getting started on this cruise and there was a MRTB Party happening in the Manhattan Bar, an official Miller party with a black and gold theme and midnight snacks happening at the Pasha club, which is where most of the passengers ended up, and then the Channel O party taking place at the Sinfonia Lounge. The party at Pasha was packed and the there was hardly a sole onboard the ship who did not make their way to this party to enjoy the incredible vibe. If the club scene or dance music was not what you were looking for you still had the option to go watch live music from GB Collective, JR and HHP who were all performing at the Teatro San Carlo from 10pm until midnight. So no matter which way you looked and what you were looking for, entertainment was around every corner.
On the last full day of the cruise the party atmosphere was still going strong and again the entertainment on offer was so incredible that no one would even consider relaxing. Again the Miller Pool Deck started early and had an incredible line-up with DJs Wags, Cli, 5FM’s Grant and Anele, Dimplez, Dean Fuel, Shaun Duvet, Black Coffee, Lady Lea and 5FM’s DJs Fresh, Euphonik and Milkshake all bringing out the last daytime stand to make sure no one left feeling like the vibe was fading.
As usual the Miller Cafe Del Mare had more to offer with entertainment being provided by Ricky H, Household Funk, DJ Cli, 5FM’s DJ Milkshake, 5FM’s Grant and Anele, 5FM’s Poppy, Dean Fuel and DJ Wags.
Live afternoon music acts were performed by Snazzy Nathan and the Homeless, Mad Love, GB Collective and Car Crash Burn, who all put on awesome shows at Pasha.
To end off the party weekend of the year the Sunday night parties included another MRTB party that went down at the Manhattan Bar, and then it was the official Cintron Party at Pasha. Sunday night also included live music acts from some of South Africa’s finest with Mad Love, Crash Car Burn, Flash Republic and Prime Circle all performing to a hugely admiring and enthusiastic crowd. The live acts were by far the place to be on the last night and there was no better way to end you last night than to sing along to some of your favourite local music.
At all hours of the last leg of this incredible weekend passengers were gearing down as it soon would be time to say goodbye to the best way to end 2010 in true style. A wild weekend spent partying, creating unforgettable memories and just spending a great time with your best mates and a whole lot of new ones.
