The Knysna Oyster Festival is one of South Africa’s most popular festivals with huge appeal for sports lovers, families and those in search of a great party in the Western Cape. The festival is spread across two weekends from the 1st to 10th July and it promises constant fun and activities.
Over 100 events, ranging from cycling, running and adventure races to wine and whisky tastings and gala evenings are expected to draw 65,000 people to the beautiful Garden Route town over the 10 days of the festival.
The two main sporting events, the Knysna Forest Marathon and the Weekend Argus Rotary Knysna Cycle Tour, give participants the opportunity to run and cycle through the indigenous forests of Knysna and experience the scenic beauty of the area.
There’s also a full programme of adventure and soft sports for the whole family to participate in, including paddling, golf, bowls, soccer, night biking and angling.
Oyster-related events include the annual oyster-shucking competition, the oyster eating competition and the Oyster & Wine Mardi Gras.
