Arno Carstens, award-winning South African singer and songwriter, will perform live in South Africa in May 2010. The return tour will support the release of his UK debut album, Wonderful Wild, and will feature new material never performed on the SA stage.
Arno Carstens’ UK debut album, Wonderful Wild, was written, recorded and mixed in London and Spain with co-songwriting contributions from Giles Martin, James Walsh, Jim Duguid and Youth. The album was produced by legendary British producer Youth (The Verve’s Urban Hymns) and Jim Duguid (Paulo Nutini’s These Streets). Final mix on the album is by Tim Bran (The Verve’s recent UK#1 album).
Arno’s current UK single Heartbreak Monday (penned by Paolo Nutini) has achieved playlist adds to BBC’s Radio 2 as well as Absolute FM and an amazing new video for the single has been delivered to UK media in the build-up to his UK album release on April 26th. Heartbreak Monday will be the third radio single following to be released in South Africa.
Arno has recently completed a remix with fellow musician Brendan Jury, of his classic hit Feel It called Feel It (World Cup 2010) for release on Hello Afrika, Sony Music’s Pan African World Cup Album.
Arno will launch the album tour with performances on the 7th and 8th May at the Alexander Theatre in JHB, in association with 94.7 Highveld Stereo, and on the 11th to 14th May at the Fugard Theatre, Cape Town in association with 94.5 Kfm, before moving on to perform at select venues in Johannesburg, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town.
The Wonderful Wild launch events will be proudly sponsored by Heineken, Nashua Mobile, BlackBerry® and Puma have also pledged support to the success of the South African tour.
The tour will once again see Arno live on stage with fellow musicians Kevin Leicher (lead guitar), Warren Leicher (bass), Arnaud van Vliet (guitar), Jerome Reynard (drums) and Brendan Jury (keys and strings).
