Automotive designers Fisker have revealed their eco-friendly answer to the question most petrol heads have been asking: “Do electric cars have to be so wussy and unsightly?” That’s definitely not the case with the Fisker Surf… This is one good looking sports car – unfortunately – it will only be available around 2013.
The Surf concept was built from the Fisker Karma – another eco-friendly vehicle but with less sex appeal. Although the Surf is essentially a very smart-looking station wagon, it certainly catches the eye and will keep environmentalists from spray painting it when you’re parked somewhere. It’s automotive beauty with responsibility. The Fisker can go it can go up to 50 miles on electricity alone and another 250 miles with the help of its 260hp turbocharged gas engine.
BWM recently signed an agreement with Fisker – the German company will be supply the engines and other components for future Fisker models – one of them quite intriguingly called ‘Project Ninja’. The first ‘Project Nina’ derivative will be a mid-size premium sedan utilising Fisker’s EVer™ technology. Roll-out is expected in 2013.
