There is nothing that shows wealth more so than an exceptionally large yacht that you can land your helicopter on, with an extra helipad onboard so your friends can also stop by. It does sound like a highly over-exaggerated extravagance, but it is an extravagance that some fortunate people have chosen to indulge in.

This 115 meter Pelorus is owned by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich. It is one of many yachts that he owns and costs roughly R900 million. How does a yacht with two helipads, a pool, four VIP rooms, additional rooms for guests, and a main suite sound? If that is not enough, it also has 40 staff, a few of which are from the British SAS.
That all sounds amazing, but to take it a step further the yacht has a mini-submarine for an under the sea adventure. Or a quick escape for Mr Abramovich in the event the missile detection system onboard detects any incoming missiles.
It is a spectacle to behold and has the features that many cruise liners should take note of. It’s a little bit daunting to think that this is still only the sixth most expensive yacht in the world. What can we expect from the rest?
