The Ducati Diavel was created when designers applied their wish-list of bike individualities to create a dream bike that would become a powerful, lower and longer motorcycle.
The stance of the Diavel is dominant and the lateral radiators (which taper down across the engine) add some broadness, to give it a commanding presence.
The signature Ducati Trellis frame uses large diameter, light gauge tubing with two lateral die-cast aluminium sections that flow into the rear sub-frame, achieving massive torsional rigidity while remaining lightweight and compact. The die-cast aluminium, single-sided swing-arm provides great feel at the rear-end, and coupled with a massive 240 section rear tyre (with 240/45 ZR17 Pirelli Diablo Rosso II) it serves up mind-blowing handling and superb leaning angles.
The fantastic looks are combined with a 162hp engine and only weighing 207kg (456lb) it gives this cruiser authentic Ducati performance. It comes with a slipper clutch to prevent rear-wheel lockup, the suspension has a fully adjustable front and rear, the front brakes are 4-piston Brembo Monoblocs (with ABS as standard), and the instruments are divided between a bar-mounted display and a tank component.
The Diavel also integrates the very latest in innovative Ducati technologies. Ride-by-Wire, Ducati Traction Control and Ducati Riding Modes deliver a sophistication that enables riders to fully enjoy the power of the Testastretta 11° engine.
There are two models available: the stock bike (approximately R195 000), and a Carbon alternate (approximately R230 000) weighing three kg’s less and featuring a marginally upgraded specification, including Marchesini forged wheels.
