American muscle cars are iconic across the world but, because of their age, have become collectors’ items rather than trend-setting sports cars; bear in mind we are talking about the original bad boys that were made over in the 60s and 70s.
All the companies that made those legendary vehicles have cottoned onto the fact that it is time to modernise these cars and let the legend continue. Dodge has released an all-new Challenger with a V8 392-cubic HEMI motor; that’s 470 horsepower and 470 pounds of torque.
The iconic design of the Challenger still remains although it is slightly more modern. A lot of the updated look is also functional which means improved aerodynamics. This improves the biggest drawback of old-school muscles cars which were compared to bricks with parachutes whilst at high speeds. The Challenger still achieves amazing acceleration, 0-100 km/ h in the four seconds range, and will continue to accelerate to over 300 km/hour.
The interior still shouts American muscle with a three-spoke steering wheel, ringed instrument clusters and sporty seats. It’s a refreshing remake of the good old faithful machine that has been around for close to 50 years. Will it last for another half century?
