We don’t feature too many production hatch backs on FLUX Mag unless they really make a statement much like the Ford Focus RS500 did. This is why we are letting you know about the Citroen DS3 Racing.
It was developed by the same team, Citroen Racing, which has pretty much dominated the World Rally Championship for the last 10 years. So when they get their minds onto the development of a car you pretty much know that the performance specs are in safe hands.
It has a 1.6 litre THP motor that produces 154 kW and 275 Nm of torque which is higher than some of its bigger competitors who are using 2 litre motors. Impressed? This propels the French car to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds and will keep it going all the way to 240 km/h.
But we are not here to talk about the performance; we want to talk about the very distinctive styling of the DS3 which has been given a little bit more flare. It retains the floating roof design of the standard DS3 along with many of its other characteristics. All Citroen Racing do is add a bit of racing flare with carbon fibre being used for the rear diffuser, front bumper, side rubbing strips and wheel arch extensions. The carbon fibre also makes for a smart interior appearance.
By our calculations you will be looking at roughly R350 000 – R400 000 for the car – but it almost seems well worth it.
