This week we find ourselves dreaming up a night or two inside the superlative walls of the Hotel President Wilson’s Royal Penthouse suite in Geneva, Switzerland. It is a mouth-full, sure, but it needs to be with the amount of sterling extras and over-the-top indulgences it boasts.
It’s nestled in the “on the fence” country of Switzerland in the capital of peace, Geneva. Believe us when we say that the people who make up Switzerland’s “on the fence” population did not hold back and fully invested every ounce of luxury they could – creating one of the world’s most sought after destinations. Kind of weird for a country who considers themselves politically correct to construct and charge over-the-top prices during the so-called recession that has hit “everyone.”
The reason for this hotel’s splurge is security and comfort. Positioned with a view of Lake Geneva and nicely tucked into the neighbourhood where the United Nations building resides, you can understand why security and extravagance have partnered up. We are glad that people who “shape the world” get to live in serious comfort for a night, it means better decisions for us all; hell we’ll even chip in.
Actually can we retract our previous comment, we will not chip in, and the reason is the price tag; its $35,000.00 if you get it on a good day, and over $50,000.00 if you don’t. If we are going to throw some crown in, we at least want a sample, perhaps even a private dinner party, one where 30 of your friends can sit in serious comfort, around the same table… yes, the table is that big, so let’s just call it a banquet.
Hardwood flooring stretches throughout the entire top floor, which is all yours, and the suite is only entered through a private elevator where the button does not even have to be pushed and the drinks are served upon arrival by the in-house butler, so a superb start is inevitable.
Once the suite/ mansion has been explored, which may take a while as four monstrous bedrooms, six granite floored bathrooms and a cocktail lounge need thorough investigation, one tends to find oneself taking in the views which are made up of the lake, the twinkling city lights and Mont Blanc.
Sit in the calm of the lounge with a drink in hand and cigar in the other. With this you are afforded the wonder of serious relaxation as you are surrounded by bulletproof glass. Okay, not everyone needs this, but we bet you can think of a few who do.
Elegance and modern touches make up this solitude, along with every extra you could possibly conceive in the fanciest hotel on the globe. Bang & Olufsen BeoVision 4-103 flat screen and audio? It’s got it. A professional Billiards table? There. A fitness centre? You bet! Plus, there are countless lounge settings, gaming stations, electronic everything, oh, and a white grand piano; you know always need that.
If you are hiding from the mafia, government or even your partner, the Hotel President Wilson’s Royal Penthouse suite is the safest bet you could get, and it comes with an extraordinary price tag; they could probably even organise you a new identity… at that price, anything is possible.
We think we would just take an in-house massage with bottles of bubbly, but then again, the choice is yours…
