Gone are the days of struggling to pitch a tent that does little to protect you from the elements – Heimplanet’s The Cave is structured for maximum ease and comfort.

The IDG, or Inflatable Diamond Grid, is the backbone of The Cave. Using nature’s own design as a template, the IDG is a self-supporting airframe formed out of five modular double-layer air beams. They can be divided into five separate air chambers to provide a stable stance even in case of damaged parts. In stormy conditions lines can be used to fix the frame to the ground – usually they will not be necessary. Pitching takes less than a minute – with no parts to put together, just pump it up and feel at home.

The airbeams are built with a resistant, double-layer construction – an extra airtight TPU bladder to keep the air inside and an outer jacket for protection and stability. It is made of a polyester-laminated fabric which ensures extra stability and durability. Each of the five air struts features a casing and an inner tube much like bicycle tyres. The inner tube can be easily patched or replaced. The IDG features five 2-in-1 valves, each with two closures: a non-return valve for a quick and simple inflation of the airframe and a large opening for letting out the air easily.
The inner tent is made out of light and highly breathable but still water-repellent nylon fabric, the ground sheet is made out of robust and waterproof polyester. Inside, multiple sown-in bags offer space for smaller and bigger items while a detachable Gear Loft underneath the rooftop offers additional storage space and can be used to put a lamp inside.
