I don’t know if it’s just me but I believe we all have a moment where we worry about something being stolen whether it is a cell phone, wallet or laptop and computers from your office. Now there is not much you can do about a good pick pocket but you can actively and passively protect your office and home.
There are tons of passive methods of protecting your valuables such as burglar bars, electric fencing, gates, doors and many more things that would hopefully prevent most criminals from getting in. This is great for keeping the bad guys out unless your office has customers coming in and out such as stores and restaurants or you are the unlucky employer of dodgy employees. This is where cameras come into play to provide both active protection and, of course, give you clear-cut evidence about the crime that was committed.
There are a host of solutions that are available to you from professional 24-hour surveillance to basic camera systems that record everything that happens. Funnily enough camera systems are not that common in South Africa with businesses either being highly naive and not putting anything up or rather doing the opposite by putting up gates, walls and even putting in access control.
All this is great but when you have absolutely no evidence about what happened, be it a few extra bucks going missing out the till, shop lifting or a full-blown robbery; you are not going to get very far figuring out what exactly happened and, most importantly, who did it.
By setting up a basic IP camera network you will quickly and easily protect your business and be able to do something when a crime happens rather than claim for your losses and wait for it to happen again. Just a thought…
