After months of negotiations a new chapter begins for Western Province prop CJ Van der Linde as the Golden Lions Rugby Union recently confirmed them signing him on. Fortunately Western Province has granted him an early release. His contract is said to run for two years (until October 2013).
This is definitely a great strategic play for the Golden Lions as Van der Linde already has some great tools and brings a ton of experience to the table.
A delighted Lions coach, John Mitchell, mentioned that he shall add value to the team and exposing developing players to the more experienced such as Van der Linde is highly beneficial. GLRU chief executive Manie Reyneke said the team is honoured and humbled to have Van der Linde on board.
Van der Linde has been playing for the Boks since 2002 and previously signed with Western Province at the end of 2010.
