The Proteas have become the proverbial mantelpiece of the cricket world having served up some excellent results on the pitch in recent days.

Grame Smith set a record as captain, leading the South African cricket team to a 51 run victory over England at Lords on Monday, securing their place as the number one team in test cricket. Apparently before the post match presentations Smith wrote a tribute message for Mark Boucher (recently suffered a career ending eye injury) on his shirt.
Durban batsman Hashim Amla earned the prestigious title of “man of the series”, his total of 482 runs over 200 runs proved to be higher than any other batsman on either side in the series. He scored 121 runs in the second innings at Lords which proved to be the highest score in the match, and it also proved to pay dividends with regards to South Africa’s 51-run victory. South Africa’s glorious victory has given them the unofficial title of number one team across all three formats. Certainly an awesome time for South African Cricket.
