FLUX Mag made our way to one of the best spring party events of 2011. Wet & Wild 5 was the best way to kick off the start of an incredible summer in South Africa.

Held at the Emerald Resort and Casino at the Vaal River, it started at 11am with a scorching day and clear skies with the crowd filtering in to watch the first of the day’s events, the wakeboarding. The Wet & Wild Pro Wakeboard Contest, powered by Tigé Boats, Jobe Water Sports, Monster Energy, Skullcandy, Fox, Von Zipper and FLUX Mag, saw the crowd all collecting at the water’s edge to watch and support some of South Africa’s top wakeboarding talent. The final results in the Men’s division saw Morgan Krauser place first and Shaun Faccio and Clayton Krauser in second and third, respectfully. In the Ladies division, Gina Faccio took top honours, with Deidre Van Niekerk in second and Candice Bacon taking bronze. The Best Trick award went to Devon Nassif, with the Biggest Wipeout award going to Craig Eygenberger.

After the wakeboarding the crowd was treated to some great freestyle motocross, with Nick De Wit and Stewart Couper showing off their insane aerial acrobatics. A great display for anyone watching, especially those who have never seen these top riders doing what they do best across the globe.

The highlight of the event was still going to be the party vibe, with the quality DJ line-up that included DJ Fresh (5FM), Erica Elle (5FM), Roger Goode (5FM), Dirty Herz (international DJ), House Hold Funk, Mark Stent, Lady Lea, Antiquated Souls, Marius Martise, DJ Tashy, Morgan Beatbox, DJ JC, and a whole stack more.

From early in the day the crowd quickly grew with the two dance floors, the VIP area, the bar and seated areas packed out and everyone enjoying the great tunes and the summer holidays style party vibe. There was no slowing down of the people dancing and enjoying the good atmosphere until the event closed at 4am the next morning.

Between the various events, the promotional girls, the dancers, the fashion shows, the great music and terrific atmosphere, we were glad to be a part of the event this year and we look forward to next year’s event where we’ll bring you all the action once again.
