5FM’s first Takeover Weekend of the year will be hitting Cape Town from 9 to 11 March in support of the Pick n Pay Argus Cycle Tour. Don’t miss out on the station’s exciting line-up of charity events, parties and live broadcasts and show your support for 5FM’s team of riders.

Sixteen of the station’s on-air personalities, including DJ Fresh, Milkshake, Poppy Ntshongwana, KB, Damon Kalvari, Angie Khumalo and Dudu Ramela will be taking part in the race along with a group of handpicked listeners. Various 5FM DJs will be broadcasting live from some of the city’s hottest venues. Here’s a rundown of the weekend’s events:
Friday 9 March – Live broadcast of The Fresh Drive from Cubana in Greenpoint from 3pm to 7pm. Entrance is free. Friday 9 March – 5FM’s Cycle Tour Pre-Party at Trinity in Greenpoint. DJ Fresh, Poppy, Catherine and Milkshake on decks. Doors open at 9pm and tickets are available at the door.
Saturday 10 March – Youngblood5 on the ground at Mfuleni township and the local high school from 10am to 4pm. Help the 5FM DJs to build homes in partnership with Habitat for Humanity South Africa. Register by SMSing YB5 plus your name, surname, age and email address to 33345 – selected listeners will be contacted with further details. SMSes are charged at R1.50.
Sunday 11 March 2012 –A live broadcast of the Weekend Breakfast with Thomas from 7am to 10am at La Vie in Seapoint. Sunday 11 March 2012 – Race day with the 5FM crew – show your support at 5FM’s designated party area, The Powerzone at Dixies in Simon’s Town. Sunday 11 March 2012 – The official Pick n Pay Cape Argus Cycle Tour afterparty at Quay 4 at the V&A Waterfront with a live broadcast of DJ Euphonik’s My House from 7pm to 10pm. Entrance fee at the door.
