You’ll probably want to keep this to yourself, but the Rewind Festival is coming up on 25 February in Durban, and it’s a feast of ‘80s music. Even if you missed out on the ‘80s the first time around, you can relive the glory years.
This year’s lineup has been confirmed with ‘80s favourites like Tony Hadley, Marc Almond, Imagination, Midge Ure, Rick Astley, Nik Kershaw, ABC, the Village People, Howard Jones, Go West and a collection of DJs to keep the tunes pumping.
Naturally, festival goers can look forward to some great food and loads of beer tents and bars all set to the backdrop of Kings Park Stadium in Durban. Gates open at 4pm ‘til around 10pm with parking available at the stadium.
Make a weekend of it and take advantage of Durban’s hospitality at one of the Southern Sun hotels that are offering a special package for Rewind Festival visitors. If you make a booking online, you can stay for two nights and get the second night at half price. The participating hotels are Garden Court Marine Parade, Southern Sun North Beach, Southern Sun Elangeni and Suncoast Hotel & Towers.
Durban is a hot spot for nightlife and delicious Indian cuisine, so make your way to Joe Kool’s on the beachfront. Get party ready with a light lunch and cocktails or enjoy a late dinner followed by all night dancing. Stay with the weekend’s theme and head for Eighties Nightclub in Kings Park. It’s a popular local venue and close to the stadium, be proudly ‘80s without the shame and party the night away! Click here to view more restaurants and nightlife venues in and around Durban.
Even though King’s Park has secured parking, consider asking your hotel concierge about cabs in and around Durban. They are reliable and there are a number of companies that will drive to the neighbouring towns and beaches.
For more information check out the Rewind Festival Facebook Page. Tickets are now available at Computicket or click here to find out more about group bookings and special offers.
