It is going to be a three day expo to remember: the Cape Town Bike Festival will be held at the Cape Town stadium from 16 to 18 December and it promises to leave a lasting impression on every bike lover’s heart.
The Cape Town Stadium will be transformed to accommodate an array of events including the Masters of Dirt FMX, Supercross, Junior MX and Supermoto champ, Brian Capper who will host both daily Trials and Supermoto a stunt riding display on a custom built deck created from 30 tonnes of 18mm boards, 300 litres of special coating and two tonnes of a special sand and composite grit blend.
The Masters of Dirt FMX course will be built for ultimate thrills on a custom built set. The set consists of two take-off ramps which will launch FMX and Quad bikers up to 15m above the stadium floor as they soar a distance of 23m onto two 4.5m high landing ramps. This leaves the Masters of Dirt just 15m of braking area before they reach the stadium wall.
The remainder of the FMX area will also get carpet on landings and braking areas as well as airbags attached to ramps and landings. The Supercross race format, meanwhile, will have riders battling each other in three lap-elimination sprint races to advance to the final in which three riders battle for daily honours, and an overall winner across all three days of the Cape Town Bike Festival.
The entertainment scheduled for the Cape Town Bike Festival is sure to rival the adrenaline rush of the awesome stunts thanks to headline act Seether and dance music icon Haddaway. Seether will be playing to scores of festival goers along with other top South African acts. The band is flying out from the States especially for the gig and fans will not be disappointed.
Also on the bill is the Miss Biker SA finals – a definite must-see event. You can check out the Miss Biker SA finalists here on the website and see them in the flesh during the three day event where they will be making various appearances at the Expo Centre and the track races.
The Expo Centre will be where festival goers can enjoy the wide range of bikes on display and vendors ranging from biker fashion to gadgets, accessories and tailor-made fast and furious merchandise.
