Black by Popular Demand!
After a few years of taking laughter all over the country, the Blacks Only comedy show is back in the motherland. Ok, so it’s only Jozi but it’s really where it all started for this popular comedy showcase. The first Blacks Only Comedy Show of the year will return to the Sandton Convention Centre on Saturday 12 March 2011 and it promises to be a hilarious show.
Blacks Only co-producer and one of the country’s leading comedians, David Kau, will reprise his role as the MC. South Africa’s favourite funny woman, Tumi Morake, will provide plenty of laughs. Capetonian Melanie Jones swaps her radio mic for one on stage and if the last Blacks Only of 2010 is anything to go by – this is one set that you don’t want to miss.
The ladies will be sharing the stage with the talkative trailblazer known to you and yours as Mum-Z. The comic relocated to Cape Town and has been leaving stomachs in stitches there but as the old adage goes, there’s no place like home.
As is tradition at the comedy show that has become a staple in the live entertainment scene, there will be some relatively new acts that are introduced to the Johannesburg market. One of them is the much-talked about Robbie Collins. Robbie can proudly boast that when the most loved comedians of the country are asked who they enjoy watching, his name comes up quite a bit.
The newcomer is joined by another popular young-gun of the comedy world, Sifiso Nene. If you’re wondering why the name is familiar it’s because he won the first season of David Kau’s reality comedy show, So You Think You’re Funny. And he will show you exactly why he still deserves the title.
On 12 March, these comedians will show and prove just how funny they are. And there will be more of their musings about whatever they deem to be laughable. So don’t miss Blacks Only’s homecoming at the Sandton Convention Centre.
