It’s that time of the year again and MTV announced that Belfast, Ireland, would be host to the MTV EMAs in 2011 on 6 November.
So far, the line-up for this year’s EMAs is star studded with performances by Coldplay (who recently rocked South African audiences with their live performances), UK indigo-child, Jesse J and the Los Angeles-based duo LMFAO who’s hit “Party Rock Anthem” has dominated the iTunes number one spot for 19 weeks. And for those who like their music with a little zing, Red Hot Chili Peppers will also be gracing the stage alongside the likes of movie stars, models, fellow musicians and socialites.
Teenage hottie Selena Gomez will be hosting the event and introducing other major name acts like Lady Ga-Ga (who is up for six nominees), Katy Perry, Adele, Justin Bieber and Thirty Seconds To Mars; each up for three awards. Other EMA nominees include Foo Fighters, Snoop Dogg, My Chemical Romance, Jennifer Lopez, LMFAO, Jessie J, Beyoncé, Coldplay, Eminem, Arcade Fire, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Far East Movement, Kanye West, Linkin Park, Wiz Khalifa and Kings of Leon.
According to Executive Vice President of Music Brands for Viacom International Media Works, Antonio Campo Dall’Orto, “Belfast’s vibrant nightlife and compelling music scene, known for fostering emerging artists and turning out international chart toppers, provides the perfect backdrop for one of the world’s biggest nights in music.”
