The Pecanwood Oktoberfest will be held on Saturday 8 October starting at 1pm and end on Sunday at 10am. The First Annual Pecanwood Oktoberfest in 2010 had an attendance of over 3 000 people. Pecanwood is situated on Birnamwood Rd, Merrivale (15km outside of Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal).

The Pecanwood Oktoberfest will be kept traditional with delicious German food on sale and of course Oompa bands. With all that German tradition, visitors can expect a good dose of South African flavour for everyone to enjoy.
MRJ Events released an Oktoberfest Calendar on 1 September in aid of breast cancer awareness. This year, all profits made from the calendars sold will be donated to the Pink Drive Foundation. Those who have seen the calendar will be able to meet the calendar girls featured in the flesh at the festival. A wide variety of games, competitions and a King and Queen of the Pecanwood Oktoberfest pageant could send two lucky festivalgoers on a four-day camping tour to Oktoberfest 2012 plus return airfares to Munich courtesy of Student Flights and Topdeck.
Tickets are R100 pre-booked at Computicket and include camping facilities. Gate purchases will however be a bit more costly.
